"By Fire" is a song by Melbourne-based neo-soul group Hiatus Kaiyote off their second studio album Choose Your Weapon (2015). The song is dedicated to the lead singer’s late father who passed away in a house fire. This arrangement features lively runs (originally on synthesizer) passed through the pans, as well as several sections of the characteristic ‘lilting’ drum beat. This style is between straight and swung, nicknamed the ‘dilla feel’ after underground hip hop rapper and producer J Dilla. There is a percussion (drumset & conga) feature at the end of the chart.
