"The Peanut Vendor" is a Cuban son-pregón composed in 1930 which sold over a million copies of the sheet music and has been recorded more than 160 times. This faithful pan arrangement by Michael Huestis is very achievable by most ensembles and includes an open tenor pan solo which can be improvised by more advanced performers, but also includes a written-out solo for performers not comfortable with improvisation. The arrangement calls for a traditional Cuban son percussion section with claves, maracas, timbales and bongo. The timbale part can be performed on drumset as a substitution. The bass part is written for both as a bass pan or bass guitar.
