Thank you for checking out this piece! I hope it serves you and your band well!

Tide Watching is a semi-laid back Soca. The rhythms of this slightly acrobatic melody are the most difficult aspect of the piece but nothing that a Beginning to Intermediate band can’t handle in a short amount of time. The rises and falls in the melody are meant to reflect the rises and falls of the tides. This piece should flow steadily sometimes up (louder) and sometimes down (softer) but always steady.

Below you will find a parts list and the description of the Flex Series of compositions. I wanted to add a few things for you to know specifically for this piece.

My priority order for engine room players would be: Congas, Iron, Shaker, then Bells but you can do what you need to for the success of your band.

The melody is always doubled with tenor and another voice in the band. This makes it simple to ensure that it is always covered. With a bit of transposing, you could also cover the melody with many different Treble Clef voiced instruments including Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone or Trumpet.

The options are endless so please feel free to dig in and make it fit your band’s needs! Enjoy!

Parts List:

Tenor (Double Tenor can double this)

Double Second

Triple Guitar/Cello

Six Bass (or Bass Guitar)

Chording (Guitar/Piano)

Difficulty: Easy (great for junior high, high school & college steel bands)

Instrumentation: tenor/double second/triple guitar-cello/bass/drum set/engine room
