Add to cartProduct ID SH-2001-00-EntireBookISBN SHAD-2001Date Added03/09/2008When Aldwyn Roberts, Lord Kitchener, the Grandmaster, passed away on February 11, 2000 the calypso fraternity experienced a great loss that may never be adequately replaced. Kitchie, as he loved to be called, penned many great songs in a variety of classifications. Political commentary, humour, and spicy numbers abound. However up to the time of his passing, he was still considered the Roadmarch King, having earned more roadmarches than any other calypsonian to date. But it is in the area of compositions that have attracted the pan arrangers that he has excelled. I wish to place on record the fact that in every Panorama event from 1963 to 1999 at least one of his tunes were played by a steelband. In fact in many a year as many as four of his selections were featured. It is significant that in the year 2000, the year of his passing, no band played his composition. The songs featured in my book this year are produced on two Calypso recordings. The first is my 2001 Calypso Compilation entitled "For Kitch - the best pan song composer". All the songs from this CD are included in this book. Because of the demand, I produced a second compilation entitled "More Kaiso for Pan", which features the song "Freedom" by Len "Boogsie" Sharpe with lyrics and vocals by David Rudder. Five other songs from that CD are included in this book.I am confident that you will enjoy all the tunes included and I wish to express my thanks to allthose who have conveyed their appreciation of my efforts. Your feedback has given me the incentive to continue this pursuit of mine to notate calypso compositions for posterity. Enjoy! Alvin C.
