Cryin’ is an original composition for steelband composed by Trinidadian legend, Len “Boogsie” Sharpe, and it was recorded by the “Our Boys Steel Orchestra” on their 1991 Mango Records release entitled, “Pan Progress.” The highly lyrical verse is in a minor-key, and is very classical in its orientation, while the chorus features uplifting major power-chords in a gospel-based progression. This arrangement features an open solo section which can be repeated between multiple soloists if desired. The classic chord structure and moderate tempo of this tune makes it very accessible to steelbands of every size and level of expertise, and the open solo section provides a great opportunity for your steelpan soloists to develop and refine their improvisational skills.

Difficulty: Easy/Medium (great for high school and college steel bands)
