Blaine Klein is a percussionist, steel drummer, composer/arranger, and educator. He graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor's in Percussion Performance in 2014. While at the University of Akron, Blaine studied under Dr. Larry Snider, Matt Dudack, and Mark Gonder. Blaine has a wide variety of teaching and playing experience including drumset, mallet instruments, marching percussion instruments, steel drums, and many more--all of various styles. He has taught at several schools including Hilliard Darby, Grove City, Firestone, Nordonia, GlenOak, Barberton, Ellet, Jackson, Mentor, and Connotton Valley. During his time at these schools he has taught drumlines, front ensembles, percussion ensembles, indoor drumlines, Brazilian ensembles, and private lessons. Blaine also maintains several private studios of students at local music stores having taught students ranging from age four to fifty.

While attending the University of Akron, Blaine was a participant in symphonic band, marching band, jazz band, percussion ensemble, steel band, Brazilian ensemble and combo, and African ensembles. He also worked at Zampino's Drum Shop and ProLogix Percussion, both located in North Canton, Ohio. Blaine has performed with So Percussion, the Richmond Symphony, and appeared on “Hammer on Steel,” an Emmy nominated DVD featuring the University of Akron Steel Drum Band. In 2019 Blaine's composition "Light in a Dark Sky" was one of the winners of the University of Trinidad and Tobago’s Ibis Ensemble Composition Contest. He is a member of PAS (Percussive Arts Society), enjoys playing in the Rubber City Brass Band and his band Copali, composing, performing in various other ensembles, and spending time outside.
