Joshua Garrett is a music educator, performing artist, composer, and music arranger from Wheeling, WV. As a solo performing artist, Joshua has developed a unique “one-man-band” performance style through the use of a Looper Pedal, a MIDI Controller, Steel Drum, and various auxiliary percussion instruments. Techniques such as beatboxing, self-vocal harmonization, and improvisation have helped to create a sound and energy specific to Joshua’s live performances. Appearing as a guest artist for local steel band festivals, he has had the privilege of arranging, composing, and performing music with and for local area middle school, high school, collegiate, and professional steel bands.

Since the age of 12, Joshua has been performing, arranging, and composing for many music mediums, but took an interest in steel bands. His original steel band composition "Very Much (A Lot)" was performed by the 2012 PASIC All-Star Steel Band at the 2012 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) held in Austin, Texas. Additionally, his compositions have received high praise from acclaimed steel band educators Chris Tanner and Dave Gerhart. Studio recordings of “Fiesta de Sueños”, “Distractions”, and his steel band arrangement of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” are available on all music streaming platforms.

Joshua graduated from West Liberty University (WLU) in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance. After graduating, Joshua was employed by Carnival Cruise Line as a Rock Band Drummer/Music Manager from 2015 – 2018, where he performed on multiple ships while touring throughout the Caribbean. Joshua returned to WLU in 2019 to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, and graduated in 2021. He is currently the Director of Bands at Sherrard Middle School in Marshall County, WV, and continues to perform as a solo artist, as well as performing in multiple bands in the Upper Ohio Valley and Greater Pittsburgh areas. Joshua is a member of the Percussive Arts Society (PAS) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). He resides in Wheeling, WV with his fiancé, Shanan, and stepson, Silas.
