Syddel Cyrus is a composer and steelpan player born in Trinidad. He graduated from University of Trinidad and Tobago in June 2017, receiving his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts in Performing Arts, and graduated from Northern Illinois University in June 2020, receiving his masters degree in Music, with steelpan as his primary instrument. He has so far written over 100 works during the course of his musical journey, ranging from symphonies, choral works, string quartets, steelpan works and musical dramas.

Syddel Cyrus was born on 2nd December 1992 in Trinidad at the Port of Spain General Hospital. He is eldest of two children, Sayvaughn Cyrus and Shanessa Cyrus, to the parents of Racheal Cyrus and Sheldon Cyrus, who are both lawyers. At the age of 9, Syddel Cyrus showed fascination of music and received his first keyboard. He had developed perfect pitch during this time. Around the age of 11, Syddel Cyrus had been diagnosed with Asvergers Syndrome or ADHD. At the age of 15, Syddel began playing steelpan as he joined the Starlift Junior Steel Orchestra in Woodbroke, led by Barry Mannette. Syddel Cyrus also learned music theory there. He had competed in Junior Panorama during his time with the steelband. He also began composing music at this time.

In 2011, Barry Mannette had left the steelband to pursuee his study in Northern Illinois University in the United States, thus resulting in the steelband being separated. Syddel Cyrus, continued his study of music theory by reading books which he got for his birthday and Christmas. In 2012, Syddel Cyrus studied under Sheldon Morales, where he furthered his studies of music theory and also learned sight reading. In 2013, he graduated from secondary school and attended University of Trinidad and Tobago to pursue his bachelor degree in music. After graduating from University of Trinidad and Tobago in 2017, Syddel joined the Lydians group, being a member of the Lydians Steel. In 2018, Syddel attended Northern Illinois University to pursue his masters degree in music, majoring in steelpan, graduating in June 2020.
