This is a great song for any steel band looking for music in a style other than a soca or calypso.  African Shade has the time signature 12/8 and is an Afro-Cuban inspired piece.  It includes a section for improvisation and has plenty of room for percussion to be added to the ensemble.  The song’s many layers will showcase the entire steel band and will offer a great change of pace on any concert program.

Difficulty: Medium Hard (great for high school and college steel bands)
