Welcome! So you bought a Cuatro and now you want to know how to play it. You are anxious to sound like the paranderos from Venezuela or maybe you just want to learn enough chords to strum along as you and your friends sing a popular calypso or extempo.

This booklet is designed to give you the basics of how the Cuatro is structured, how it is tuned and how to finger it to play chords. Beyond that you will need to put in a lot of practice before you become proficient at playing it. Strumming is the most difficult part as you need to employ different strums depending on whether you are playing Calypso, Parang, Reggae or Pop.  This is a fun instrument!!
