Starting out as a traditional samba, this original tune progresses through a couple fusion styles, including a batucada with blues tonality and a soca improvisation section, before returning to its original feel. The piece includes two contrasting solo sections, both of which can be expanded to feature additional players. The arrangement flexes well to the instrumentation of an ensemble and provides a nice challenge for the core rhythm section players. As with most sambas, the piece may be adapted to include additional Brazilian-style auxiliary percussion instruments during the batucada. This would be an ideal work to provide stylistic contrast within a program and feature a variety of soloists.

Difficulty: Medium (great for high school and college steel bands)
