"Port of Spain" is the capital city of Trinidad. This is an important place in the story of the steelpan's creation. This is soca chart, a prominent music style in Trinidad & Tobago. Letter A is a unison section to get the whole group started. Letter B introduces a melody in the jumbie jam and tenor parts. The double seconds and triple guitars introduce a simple strumming pattern from Trinidad and Tobago. The bass part at B glues everything together. Letter C is a call and response section between high pans and low pans, which is found in many Panorama steel band arrangements. This is a great chart to teach students the unique qualities of soca music.
