Somebody was composed by the prolific Trinidadian composer, Winsford Devine, and was performed and popularized by the famous Calypso-Soca artists, Baron. It is a classic Trinidadian Soca tune, and was a very popular selection for many steelbands during the 1989 Panorama season, including the Desperadoes, and the eventual Panorama winners, the Renegades. This arrangement features Baron’s classic soca introduction and a stylized verse and chorus, followed by one set of verse and chorus variations inspired by the panorama arrangements of the Desperadoes and Renegades. Its “minor-key” verse and “major-key” chorus make Somebody a very unique tune which is sure to engage both your steelband and your audience. This tune is always a great crowd pleaser, and this arrangement is a perfect opener or closer for your steelband concert.

Difficulty: Medium (great for high school and college steel bands)
