The Light is a work to commemorate the COVID-19 "Coronavirus" Pandemic of 2020. It started as a transcription of a solo work in Adam Grim's "Quarantine Jams" series on Youtube, and worked its way onto the computer for a full ensemble. Though slightly different after being reworked, the soloistic nature still shines through from the tenor pans. The piece is sort of a soca ballad, with elements of each being major elements in the soul of the work. The rhythms in the lead part imitate the looseness of a soloist while still maintaining the ensemble atmosphere. Quite a relaxing but moving piece to program! There's a little bit of both worlds in this piece: The Light (at the end of the tunnel).
