"Tristezas" is considered the first bolero ever written and contributed helped popularize the "trova" musical style in Cuba in the late 18th century. This pan arrangement by Michael Huestis is the perfect way to teach the classic bolero musical style to young students. The arrangement can be performed with a more traditional Cuban bolero percussion section (timbales, bongo, and claves), with a single drumset, or any combination of those instruments. The bass part is written for both bass pans and/or a bass guitar and a written tenor pan solo is provided for students without improvisation experience.
