While writing this piece I remembered back to what it felt like playing pan with the Renegades Steel Band on the road at Carnival time. People in the streets of Port of Spain, Trinidad were pushing our pan racks and “jumping up” to our music. The trend in the recent past has been to “jump up” with the large, mobile DJ trucks that blast Soca music that can be heard (and felt) for blocks.
