Joshua Garrett’s steel band arrangement of Journey’s classic rock anthem "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" transforms the high-energy 1983 hit into a vibrant, rhythmic percussion showcase. The arrangement blends classic arena rock intensity with the rich, resonant textures of a steel drum orchestra. Beneath the main melody in the leads and double tenors, the double seconds and cello pans weave syncopated chordal patterns that maintain the heavy, dramatic rock tension of the original track. Journey drummer, Steve Smith’s epic drum solo is transcribed to give the drummer their time to shine. This is great for high school and collegiate steel ensembles looking to perform an infectious, crowd-pleasing classic.
